Relationship Chart

To use this chart, there must be an ancestor who is related to both individuals (Common Ancestor). For example: If you look at the chart below, the Common Ancestor in Box 1 on the Horizontal Scale (HS) as well as Box 1 on the Vertical Scale (VS).

Let's say that you want to find the relationship between Luella Catherine Hutchinson Moland and Harriet Salisbury. James D. Salisbury would be the common ancestor. Luella was a great-granddaughter of James. Harriet was a daughter.

If you follow Box 4 on the VS down to where it meets horizontal pathway to Box 2, you will see that Luella was a grand niece to Harriet Salisbury.
